Volunteers will be wearing long and short sleeve polo tops as well as baseball-style caps in navy and bright green.

Volunteer workforce coordinator Dee-Anne Kapene said the colour combination is a nod to the AMG logo and the lush Tasmanian landscape.

“The uniforms were designed to be uniquely Tasmanian and to stand out and be worn proudly,” she said.

Certain volunteers will also be wearing coloured vests.

Medical staff will be wearing red vests and brand ambassadors will be in pink in order to be more visible.

Some volunteers have already been working with the organising team, providing first-hand experience in managing a large public event.

TasTAFE event management student, Narelle Flannery, has been working on the AMG as part of a work placement course.

She is one of eight students from TasTAFE to gain work experience in the volunteer workforce.

“It’s definitely been interesting. You don’t actually realise what goes on behind the scenes,” she said.

“It will definitely be good to get some skill for future employment.”

The online training program for volunteers, developed by the University of Tasmania, will be closing this Sunday.

However, Ms Kapene said it was not too late to register online as a volunteer.

“We would still like some more community based volunteers at the opening ceremony, to do marshaling, packing bags and things like that,” she said.

Volunteer help will be needed before the games in order to pack and distribute kit bags and uniforms.

As an added incentive, AMG competitors and volunteers will have a $10 discount off tickets to the official after party featuring the Hoodoo Gurus.

“There certainly are lots of social events popping up here and there,” Ms Kapene said.
